To be clear, Apple is losing ground to “Droid”, not Android. Very few people are choosing Android as a platform first, then finding the carrier that has the best Android phones. Yes, I know you chose it because you were angry with AT&T or you dislike Apple’s policies, but you’re probably a geek like me, and most normal people have absolutely no idea what Android is and wouldn’t care if you told them.
I wish Marco would explain this to Leo Laporte. Leo likes to draw generalizations about the whole entire world based on the 2,000 or so uber-geeks you can find in the chat room at any given time.
Don’t get me wrong - I’m an uber geek who would be in the chat room during the day if my employers didn’t block all things Twit, but the thing that Leo repeatedly misses is that we’re a very small segment of the total market.
I’d be willing to bet that many many people simply say “There’s no way in h*** I’m leaving VZW, so just give me something that’s close to the iPhone…”
